In Pauline’s own words: “This was done in the early days of Café Kisimul. I managed to get away and go to the other side of the bay. I decided the quickest technique would be palette knives, and paint it monochrome. I don’t do a lot of plein air because of the weather and the midges!”

• On the 8 × 10 inch sheet (20.3 × 25.4 cm), the painting spans 17.3 × 22 cm inside a border of at least 1.5 cm
• On the 16 × 20 inch sheet (40.6 × 50.8 cm), the painting spans 34.6 × 44 cm inside a border of at least 3 cm
